Yuh, Patrick

Patrick is currently a teaching assistant for the department of Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology at UC Santa Cruz.  He graduated in 2008 with a Master's degree in MCD Biology, where his research focused on studies of the human spliceosome, a macromolecular complex involved in pre-mRNA splicing.  Starting in 2008, Patrick has participated in the Professional Development Program (PDP) and has been involved in designing and teaching activities at UCSC and Hartnell Community College in the areas of molecular biology and microbiology.  His experiences with the PDP have helped him realize the importance of intentional, inquiry-based science education.  He plans to become a community college instructor and apply this knowledge and experience to the teaching of his courses.
